Teachers and Staff
Glen Schmitke (Principal)
Glen has his BSc from Valley City State University in Valley City, ND and his MS, MEd from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. Glen has attained his colloquy from Concordia University, Edmonton. Currently he teaches Physical Education, and coaches Volleyball and Badminton.
Michele Kleijnen (Pre School)
The Pre School program exists to assist parents in preparing their little ones for attendance at our Christian School.
Beth Schiemann (Kindergarten)
Beth has her BA from the University of Western Ontario and attended Teachers’ College at Althouse College in London, Ontario. She is involved with the Advent Concert.
Nicole Otterman (Grade 1/2)
Nicole Otterman has a BA and BEd and colloquy from Concordia University College in Edmonton, AB. She began her teaching here at St. Matthew. She enjoys spending time outdoors doing a variety of activities. She also enjoys playing volleyball, and has the pleasure of coaching the Jr. High Girls Volleyball Team.
Carmen Vanderwell (Grade 3)
Carmen received her BEd from the University of Alberta. Carmen graduated in 2009, majoring in Elementary Education with a minor in German. In addition to her Grade 3 teaching assignment, Carmen teaches Grade 9 Math, and German. Carmen is very active in the local 4H assuming many leadership roles in counselling and providing communication workshops. Carmen is active at St. Matthew Lutheran Church working with children and Kid's Power Hour, planning and teaching Vacation Bible School and participating in LAMP'S Hall Lake mission project.
Angie Baron (Grade 4)
Angie has a BEd from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, AB. Angie taught in Grande Prairie before coming to St. Matthew.
Gary Skoye (Grade 5/6)
Gary has a BA and BEd from Lethbridge University. In addition to his teaching assignment Gary is the Assistant Principal, coaches Basketball, Cross Country Running and teaches Gr. 7/8 Math.
Eric Ladoski (Grade 7/8 Homeroom, Grade 3 to 9 Science)
Eric has his BSc from the University of Winnipeg, with his Certificate in Education from the University of Manitoba. Eric received his colloquy from Concordia University College, Edmonton, AB. In addition to his teaching assignment Eric teaches Gr. 9 Lanuage Arts and Complimentary Courses.
Vanessa Hamilton (Grade 9 Homeroom, Grade 3 P.E., Gr.3 & 7/8 Health, Jr. High Religion, SS, LA, French, and Complimentary courses.)
Vanessa has her BA from Augustana University of Alberta and BEd from Concordia University College of Alberta. Vanessa has been at St. Matthew since 2005./p>
Nadine Melanson (Teacher Aid)
Nadine has lived in the Stony Plain area all her life. She attended St. Matthew from grades one to eight and graduated from Memorial Composite High School in 1985. She also earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Augustana University in 1988. Nadine has been our Teacher Aid since 1999. She is also invovled in many different volunteer activities at both our Church and School, including helping with our youth and young adults groups,and co-ordinating our Scholastic Book Program. Nadines interests include camping and boating with her family, needlepoint, and reading.
Connie Adam (Administrative Assistant)
Connie grew up in the Stony Plain area and attended St. Matthew Lutheran School. After graduating from Memorial Composite High School she worked in Edmonton for Alberta Education, and then did various administrative jobs before coming to St. Matthew as our Administrative Assistant in 1994. Connie's interest including camping, quadding and horse backing riding.
