Promotion
- General
Promotion and retention will primarily be based upon performance and achievement, rather than age. It is the belief of this school that the mastery of basic fundamental skills essential to academic achievement will provide students the necessary foundation for future academic success. Students who do not meet the stated requirements for promotion may be moved to the next grade only if in the professional judgement of the student’s age, social/emotional maturity and other relevant factors are such that movement to another grade is in the student’s best interest.
- Grade One to Six
Promotion shall be based upon overall success in the grade, with the requirement being the achievement of the goals and objectives in sufficient depth to provide the necessary foundation for the subsequent grade.
- Grades Seven to Nine
All subjects at the Grade Seven to Nine level are assigned the following credits for the purpose of determining promotion to the next grade level.
Subject Credit Language Arts 1 Mathematics 1 Science 1 Social Studies 1 Religious Studies 1 Physical Education 1 Complimentary Courses 2 (two courses) Health and Personal Life 1 A minimum of eight credits are required in order to be promoted to the next grade level. A student with eight or fewer credits will be encouraged to attain extra tutoring in the missing course(s) so that they will be prepared to progress to the next grade level.
